Oh yes it is… Cinderella with Basil Brush. You’ll have a ball at this year’s spectacular panto, Cinderella, at The Grove Theatre, in Dunstable. Fairy godmother Bernie Nolan has waved a magic wand to conjure up a host of stars to appear in the Yuletide show, which opens on December 11. The singer and actress, star of The Bill, Brookside and Blood Brothers, will have to share spells on stage with larger-than-life family favourite Basil Brush who is making his début as Buttons, and local lass Jane Ledsom as Cinders. Hoping to steal the handsome prince will be Ugly Sisters Malcolm Lord, who starred for 13 years as firstly George then Bungle, in children’s TV classic, Rainbow, and Simon Bashford. There are also Buzz and Woody, a pair of the smallest Shetland ponies imaginable, who will be helping to pull the belle of the ball in the finale. Cinderella runs until January 3 and tickets are selling fast.
